Pet End-of-Life Care and Private Euthanasia Services
Perhaps your pet hasn't been acting like themselves lately. Whether your pet is terminally ill or experiencing the effects of old age, their quality of life can fluctuate, leaving you uncertain about their future. The last thing you want to do is plan for the end, but it's important to consider your options and know what is best for your pet's wellbeing. Our veterinarians in Downers Grove understand how difficult it is to address your pet's end-of-life care. Planning for the end can be a very stressful and emotional affair, but we're here to help you every step of the way.
Measuring Your Pet's Quality of Life
If you come to us with concerns about your pet's health, we'll want to know as much as possible to find out if treatment will improve their condition. Understanding their current quality of life will help us make a prognosis and decide on the next appropriate step. If your pet has the potential to improve and is having more good days than bad, we can pursue treatment to manage their condition so they can enjoy more time with you.
While improvement is possible for ailing pets, some conditions cannot be improved. If your pet is unable to walk or stand or has a terminal illness that has progressed beyond treatment, euthanasia may be the best option. When recommending euthanasia, we do so with full consideration for your pet's wellbeing. In such cases, euthanasia is the ideal option for eliminating suffering and making your pet's final moments peaceful ones.
As pet owners ourselves, we know how hard it is to say goodbye to a beloved friend. Our hospital includes a separate room with comfortable couches where pet owners can spend time with their pets in privacy. We will only perform the euthanasia when you're ready. After the procedure, you can exit our facility through a back doorway instead of going through the lobby.
If you are interested in receiving your pet's ashes or another memento to remember them by, please let us know.
Thank you so much for your awesome service! I don't know of any other vet that would wait, after hours and at last minute (especially on a Saturday), to see our dog for an emergency visit! We will most definitely be taking all of our dogs to Dr. True now! -Stephanie D.
