Pet Obedience Training for Puppies and Adult Dogs
Obedience is not only about keeping your pet under control; it's also about being a leader. As pack animals, dogs are happiest when they know where they stand in relation to others. Furthermore, establishing your role as the pack leader makes it easier for them to pay closer attention to you and less attention to distractions. At Animal Care Center of Downers Grove, we know how important it is to have a healthy, well-established relationship with your pet. Therefore, we offer obedience training for both puppies and adult dogs in a safe, positive environment where owners can spend quality time with their pets. Our experienced trainer provides instructions that make obedience training both fun and educational.

Our Puppy Classes
Every puppy needs a healthy start. While their medical needs will always take priority, their social and behavioral needs are important too. Our puppy classes are geared towards helping puppies develop healthy social skills with other dogs and people. They also offer the opportunity for you to train your puppy in basic commands and reduce unruly behaviors. Urinating in the house, chewing up the sofa cushions and stealing food off the counter are common behaviors that can be corrected with practice.
Our puppy classes include:
- Teaching your puppy sit, come, and stay
- Walking on a leash
- Tips for housebreaking
Obedience Training for Adult Dogs
Whether you need to improve certain behaviors or would like to teach your dog new commands, our classes provide the perfect opportunity. We offer group classes to help adult dogs with basic lessons, including:
- Loose leash walking
- Basic obedience (come, sit, stay, down, leave it)
- Controlling impulsive behavior
- Dog handling
- Preventing behaviors such as digging, chewing and barking
