Advanced Pet Diagnostics for Advanced Treatment

pet diagnostics

Whether your pet is sick or healthy, our pet diagnostics tools can give us more insight into their overall condition. At Animal Care Center of Downers Grove, we use only the best technology for finding and analyzing existing or potential health problems. Our team uses cutting-edge digital X-ray and a full in-house laboratory suite to get fast results and find the best treatment for your pet.

With pet diagnostics, our veterinarians can not only detect and diagnose illness, but also build a more complete picture of your pet's health. Therefore, we recommend yearly diagnostic testing to ensure that every pet is in the best condition.

Seeing Below the Surface
with Digital X-Ray

Digital X-ray offers superior technology over traditional film X-ray and gives us sharper, easier-to-analyze images. Additionally, we can perform X-ray procedures much more quickly. As a result, our more anxious patients will be less likely to require sedation. With X-ray, our goal is to view your pet's bones, along with their abdominal and chest cavities to detect problems such as:

  • Broken bones
  • Arthritis
  • Bone deformities
  • Foreign bodies in the GI tract
  • Tumors
  • An enlarged heart

Going In-Depth
with Ultrasound

Ultrasound can help us see things that digital X-ray cannot. It takes a different approach to imaging your pet's internal systems, using high-frequency soundwaves instead of radiation. For a clearer picture of the soft-tissue organs, ultrasound is the ideal choice. Furthermore, it produces a moving image in real time we can use to evaluate organ size, texture, and function. With ultrasound, our team can detect and diagnose:

  • Pregnancies
  • Cysts and tumors
  • Fluid in the lungs and abdomen
  • Bladder and kidney stones

In-House Laboratory Testing for Faster Results

Our in-house laboratory is an invaluable tool for emergency situations and pets undergoing surgery. We can run various blood tests to check values and organ function to ensure that we're taking the proper steps before a surgical procedure or other treatment. For most routine cases in which time is not a major factor, we send blood, urine and fecal samples out to specialists for a more complete and cost-effective analysis.

If your pet is showing signs of a health issue or is due for testing, call (630) 852-1855 or stop in for an appointment.
